NFL Draft Day 3: Undrafted Gems and Late-Round Steals

12 Rookies to Watch for Starter Snaps in Year 1

[Insert Date]

The majority of NFL rosters are not filled with players drafted in the first three rounds. In fact, a large portion of starters and key contributors are drafted in Rounds 4 through 7 or even go undrafted and sign as free agents.

Saturday's NFL Draft is when these "yeoman" players, as Chad Reuter of NFL.com calls them, get their chance to shine. Reuter has identified 12 rookies picked on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft who could be in line for starter snaps in their first year.

Over at the Pro Football Focus (PFF) live draft tracker, analysts analyzed and graded every pick in real-time. Here is a quick recap of their instant reaction thoughts for each:

  • Round 4, Pick 1: "[Player Name] is a good value pick here. He has the potential to be a solid starter in the NFL."
  • Round 4, Pick 15: "[Player Name] is a bit of a reach, but he has some upside. He could be a rotational player on defense."
  • Round 5, Pick 10: "[Player Name] is a steal at this point in the draft. He could be a starting wide receiver for this team."

The NFL Draft is a time of hope and opportunity for all 32 teams. With the majority of rosters still to be filled, Day 3 presents an opportunity for teams to find players who can contribute immediately and develop into long-term starters.
